Buying The Right Pushchair The First Time

Buying a pushchair is no easy task, especially for the first-time parent who also has loads of other baby-related stuff to buy, not to mention the stress and worry of starting upon the amazing and life-changing journey into parenthood.

It is not unusual for new parents to go through several different pushchairs during their children’s first few years. Getting it right first time can save you a lot of time, effort and most of all money, all of which are in short supply when a new baby arrives.

The three main areas to consider are as follows; you need to have a budget in mind, you should think about which features are essential to you and your lifestyle and which are expendable, and you should know some common pitfalls to avoid.

Budget

There are literally hundreds of different pushchairs to choose from with prices ranging from £20 for a very basic stroller, to over £1,000 for a top-of-the-range travel system. So, how much you spend depends on what is right for your needs.

If you want to spend a lot of money on the latest buggy as pushed by Victoria Beckham, the go for it, but it is possible to get one that is just as good for half the price if you shop around.

If you have found your ideal match but your other half is rendered speechless at the price, you can consider buying second hand. A lot of parents who buy the wrong buggy and end up changing will sell their first or second to make up for the loss of having to buy another. Remember, it is wise to always give the buggy a once over before you agree to buy it, as it is likely that the manufacturer’s warranty will have expired.
